lyrics

he adjusts his tie from it's awkward state
sets his suit jacket so it sits straight
a haggard's speech printed on scrunched up paper
crammed into his jacket pocket, he'll struggle to read it later

the laces on his shoes tied far too tight
so he won't trip on tangled lines
this formal attire hasnt fooled anyone before nor will it this time
when he walks out that door

he stares idly into the mirror he sees a boy trying to fill the shoes of his father
how did it come to this

tears roll down his face they hastily fall to meet the timber floors
his hands slowly reach for that door
"these shoes will never fit" he breathes as he steps out on the floor to join the bereaved
